Government Help for Sugar Shacks

February 18, 2021

In a communiqué today, the province’s minister in charge of agriculture, fisheries and food, André Lamontagne, announced new measures in support of Québec’s sugar shacks.

Sugar shack owners will be eligible for assistance to adapt their business models and facilities to the current situation and offset lost revenue due to unsold inventories of maple syrup, along with other measures. Funding will also be made available for the recently launched Ma cabane à la maison project, an initiative involving some 70 sugar shacks across Québec.

More details on the government’s measures can be found in its official communiqué.
