Union des producteurs agricoles (UPA) Experiences Major IT Network Outage

August 15, 2022

The weekend of August 6, Union des producteurs agricoles (UPA) fell victim to a cyber attack, affecting the entirety of its computer systems.

Québec Maple Syrup Producers (QMSP) employs these systems and was therefore impacted by the attack. Our IT tools and many documents are currently and indefinitely inaccessible. We are unable to process payments to producers, transfers, and production plans. Nor are we able to invoice purchasers. Other functions in the producer files as well as access to the Producer section of the website are temporarily compromised. Grading processes are ongoing, although it remains impossible to enter the results into our system. The most recent data (as of August 3) shows that 129,599,482 pounds of syrup have been classified, registering at a higher level than the 104,414,233 pounds graded in 2021 and the 118,332,216 pounds graded in 2020 by that date.

Please be assured that we are working very hard to bring the situation under control. We are in constant communication with UPA and sparing no effort to resolve this exceptional situation to the minimum inconvenience of all. We will continue to post messages on our Facebook page as well as on our website access to the Producers section. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes to you and thank you in advance for your patience.
